A bright February morning spent among the men in 'uniformed' blue along with their supreme commander, President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam was an experience that can't be forgotten easily.
He is all what is said of him down to earth, humble and very approachable.He also enjoys the company of the fourth estate, gladly obliging with posing for pictures that would make any photographer happy.
Endless shouts of 'Sir!...' followed Dr Kalam the minute he stepped on the podium. The glee in his voice was there for all to hear when he mentioned his first experience of 'G' conditions during his super sonic flight of Sukhoi-30 MKI in June last year.

Such was his excitement that he couldn't help pointing out the flying Sukhoi 30 MKIs which roared above, making a trident in the sky.
Questioning the president at any point of time can be a very intimidating experience. But when one questions him about the potential deciding factors other than progress in science and technology for the development of our country, he gives his undivided attention.
Citing national development as being dependent on two components, Kalam says, "Economic growth and prosperity along with enough stress on national security is what can decide the progress of our nation."

And even as his love for children is well known, he is asked what are his views about the young adults who are currently the working masses of the country. He says, "Working with total honesty and sincerity is most essential."
Ask him what an individual can do to contribute in the development process and he says, "I would just say this. Whatever any one individual does it doesn't matter from which field they are they need to put in their best.
That is enough contribution for the success of our country," says the president. Sustained application and perseverance are his guidelines for success, hopefully, will be the nation's mantra soon as well.
